PHOT 167 | Lens Culture in the Public Eye considers the role and function of photography within a public context as a jumping off point in the exploration of the photograph as a source of evidence and “truth,” photography and surveillance, photography in media including photojournalism and paparazzi, street photography and documentary photography. Both analog and digital cameras can be used with black & white and/or color materials. Work can be made in the darkroom and/or digital lab. In addition, we’ll examine various presentation possibilities once the work has been made, including photographic prints, the use of technology with the web and blogs as well as self-published digital photographic books and magazines.
